Highlights of 2016

2016 was a rough year for many reasons. And now it's January 2017. The magic of Christmas is over. It's been wet, cold and so very grey for weeks now. And I find myself thinking back to the more colourful moments. It was not without it's beauty. Family, trips, art, inspiration. It was all there...

You've seen some of the things we've gotten up to this year in previous posts,

but some more highlights if you will...

But first coffee...

(I've injested so so so much coffee this year...)

The wild things in the flesh...

Yep I live with actual superheroes...

Created this guy as a gift...

Which lead to this...

Went back to Switzerland...

Hiked up scary mountains which made my legs shake and my vision go blurry (but did it anyway...)

And this...

Loosely inspired this...

We went camping. One time we found wild horses...

Made lots of loud uncoordinated music...

Went back to the Mulino Pods in Derbyshire to enjoy the general splendor a little more...

And painted the other two pods as promised...

We explored...

We enjoyed Autumn, which was just beautiful man...

Visited Stonehenge. A long time wish. It did not disappoint...

Yep there were really good bits for sure...

How do you take care of yourself?

What is this life if full of care
We have no time to stand and stare...
— William Henry Davies

Someone asked me recently what I do to take care of myself. And I struggled to think. So many things come first, that it's hard to find time for yourself. But one thing I know for sure is, there isn't much a walk in nature can't fix for me. It restores and soothes me.

And it's the same with the boys. When they get a little too wild or restless, a walk is the perfect remedy...

To explore...

To discover...

To learn...

To imagine...

There's no end of things to things to find season by season...

And I think i'm not the only one who is inspired by nature to create art...
